Dr. Meera Nawasalkar - Pahurkar
To hear always, to think always, to learn always, it is thus that we live truely

A very promising musician of this age was born in a traditional and religious family and was introduced to music at the age of 5 by all members of family. She started her training with her Grandfather late Pt. Vishnupant Nawasalkar who was a great and popular Harmonium player. Thereafter she was fortunate in receiving training from none other than her father Pandit Kishore Nawasalkar and then from famous vocalist Prof. Kumud Hirurkar of Amravati. Endowed with a rich resonant voice Meera’s performances are marked by an excellent command over both the layakari and the melody. As her guru and father Pt. Kishor Nawasalkar had very much closed musical association with late Pt. Rajabhau Nawasalkar, Late Pt. Wadikarbuva, late Pt. Nivruttibuva Sarnaik and Guru Padmavibhushan Pandit Mallikarjun Mansoor, only because there has been a definite impact of all these styles including Jaipur style in the conceptions in her vocal recital.
